Best not to forget the dangers of illness — which is to say the advantages.
There are real advantages to getting sick and staying sick. You get all the attention. People dote. People care. They bring food and gifts. And all of this is easily confused with love.
But… It’s a trap!
A person can soon become easily committed to illness, to being comfortable with it, even after the body heals. There is this psychological satisfaction, often from childhood, that equates illness with love. And this encourages people either to get sick or, more commonly, to act in ill or pathological ways. To garner attention, to manipulate, to attain power. Get well soon.
