A lot has been mentioned about the title sequence of Babylon Berlin, and it even garnered awards such as the top nod from the Art of the Title 2018. There is something truly hypnotic about the swirling sequence, drawing you into a dream, but in actuality, the mesmerizing insanity of the Weimar Republic. Kudos to designer Saskia Marka.
But I am more entranced by the ending credits of each episode which are inspired by the German cinematographer Walter Ruttmann: In every movement, there is tremendous play, little blobs of color and light, dancing, merging, separating, as if inspired by cells under a microscope. Here is is Opus II (1921) which inspired many of the credits.
